History of MacDonald's Ranch

MacDonald's Ranch was established in the early 1950's as a working cattle and horse ranch. At that time, the spread consisted of over 30,000 acres, covering much of what is now north Scottsdale. On Easter Sunday, 1972, the ranch was first opened as "Old MacDonald's Farm", a place where city kids could come to ride a horse, milk a cow, or see where eggs came from.

Many years passed, the Valley population grew, and with the exception of MacDonald's Ranch's 1,300 acres, much of the land was transformed into housing developments and shopping centers. In 1994, MacDonald's Ranch was reconditioned and updated its services to offer a modern approach to a "Step Back in Time". Today, in its third decade of operation as a public riding stable, it is Scottsdale's premier horseback riding stable and western adventure tour ranch in the Valley.
